Overview

This page lists typical selection requirements for joining the NCC (National Cadet Corps). Different directorates/units may have slightly different cutoffs and tests — always check your unit's official notification.

Physical Test

Physical tests assess endurance, strength and fitness. Typical items include:

  • 800m -1600m run
  • Chin-ups
Preparation tips:
  • Start a 6–8 week running & bodyweight routine.
  • Stay hydrated, eat balanced meals, and rest well before test.

Written Test

The written exam checks general knowledge of India and Army.

  • Awareness of NCC
Study tips:

Revise current affairs (4-6 months), practice India GK,Government schemes and solve MCQs with time limits.

Medical Test

Medical checks confirm fitness to undergo training.

  • Height & weight as per standards
  • Vision (with or without glasses)
  • Overall physical examination
  • No chronic illness
Important notes:

Carry previous medical records if any. If you use spectacles, bring prescriptions. Inform examiners of past health issues honestly.

Interview

Interview panels evaluate personality, motivation and fit.

How to prepare:

Practice a 30–45 second introduction, rehearse common leadership/teamwork answers, and remain calm and respectful.
